Replace your Rotary Blade on your United Rotary Cutter

The self-sharpening rotary blade system keeps your blade crisp and sharp by honing the blade each pass. While this keeps the blade sharp, it will also wear down over time. What You’ll Need

Replacing the rotary blade is a quick DIY job that should take no longer than 5 minutes. The only things you’ll need for the job are the replacement rotary blade housing (part # RT-02), and a 3/16 inch or 5mm Allen wrench. Every United Rotary cutter will have the same process and use the same replacement blade and housing.

Getting Started

Looking at the United Rotary Cutter from the side, you will see the one bolt that holds the guide rail in place per side. Use your Allen wrench to loosen and remove each bolt. With the bolts removed, simply lift up the guide rail and remove from the base. Be careful when removing the guide rail, as the blade housing will slide freely.

With the rail and housing removed from the base, slide the blade housing off the guide rail. Now, slide the new one on facing the same way as the one you just removed. When placing the guide rail with the new blade and housing back on the base, be sure that the flat side of the blade, or the black side of the housing are facing inward towards the rotary base. It is important to make sure the cutting edge of the blade is facing the proper direction. Now, you can replace the bolts and tighten the rail in place. Your new blade is installed and you are ready for more trimming and cutting!
